Quantico Connection

Our Quantico Connection

The Sharks are proud to be affiliated with Marine Corps Base Quantico, and appreciate all the support they have given our organization over the past fifteen years. As the Sharks have grown in popularity and enrollment, we have expanded to two short-course season practice sites in order to accommodate all our swimmers.

We continue to practice at Ramer Hall, located at TBS on Quantico, just off Route 610 in North Stafford and also practice at the Woodlands Pool, which is also located just off 610.  Ramer Hall is an indoor 25 meter facility, and Woodlands is a bubbled, 25 yard facility. Most programs practice in both facilities during a given week. After school lets out for summer, we practice at both the All Hands Pool located on Quantico and at Curtis Park pool in the Hartwood area of Stafford County. Both of these pools are 50 meter outdoor pools, but we sometimes swim "short-course" at the All Hands Pool.

The Sharks are privileged to have access to the Marine facilities for many reasons. The most obvious reason is the availability of a backup pool  when Woodlands bubble is being taken down and put up. A perhaps less-obvious reason is the daily exposure our swimmers get to the integrity, leadership and values exhibited by the Marines training on the base. This exposure aids us in our mission of

"Training Champions in the Pool  S  Building Champions for Life"

Lastly, a very special thank you goes out to the Single Marine Program on Marine Corps Base Quantico. Last year our team hosted Virginia Swimming’s statewide Age Group Championship meet. A group of 14 Marines volunteered in excess of 125 hours to assist the Sharks in hosting this meet:

Thank you to the United States Marine Corps for developing these fine

young Americans. They made it possible for 799 swimmers to compete in

Virginia Swimming’s Age Group Championship this weekend.

Our children thank you!
