Coach’s Corner April 2010
I hope everyone had a great spring break and is ready to go for Long Course season. We finished off our Short Course season in great style, so our coaching staff is very pumped for Long Course!
To finish the Short Course season, we qualified more swimmers than ever before for Age Group Champs (15) and Senior Champs (12). In addition, we scored more points as a team at both of those meets than we ever have in the past. As always, that really shows the progress our swimmers and the team are making year to year. Once again, we hosted Age Group Championships and it was a great success – thank you to everyone on the team for all of your hard work in making that happen!
We also had several swimmers represent the Sharks beyond the state level. Jacob Ragsdell qualified for the Virginia Swimming Zone All-Star Team and Matt Kalna, Jackson Wanner, Cole Kimble, and Robert Resch qualified for and represented the team at Sectionals. Congratulations to those swimmers for once again taking the Sharks to the next level.
Every one of our swimmers performed tremendously at our Short Course Championship meets, from District Champs through Sectionals. When all of the championship meets were concluded, our athletes had performed well enough to set 53 new Short Course team records – way to go! We can’t wait for more of the same this Long Course season.
