Stu Faux
Head Coach
Our coaching staff is led by Stu Faux, an ASCA level 4 certified coach. Since taking over the Sharks in 2004, the team has grown from about 40 swimmers to 150 swimmers and is still growing. During that time, the swimmers have established 183 new team records, and many consistently qualify for Virginia Age Group Championships, Senior Championships, Eastern Zone Championships, and Sectional Championships. Since 2004, the Sharks have climbed in the State and National Rankings from 32nd in Virginia and 1,496th nationally, to their current rankings of 13th in Virginia and 387th in the nation out of 2,419 teams.
Prior to joining the Sharks, Coach Faux was the head coach for a highly successful and competitive team near Philadelphia. During his seven years with the program, he actively coached all age groups of the 300-member team. Coach Faux coached swimmers to qualify for meets including Sectional Championships, Eastern Zone Championships, the U.S. Open, and USA Junior and Senior National Championships.
Coach
Faux also served as Head Coach for a high school swim team in the
Philadelphia area. In his six-year tenure, the team amassed an
amazing 78-9 dual meet record and won six Suburban-One League
Championship titles. In recognition of his achievements, Coach Faux
was named Philadelphia Inquirer Coach of the Year in 1999.
Coach Faux has also coached the Mid-Atlantic Zone Team three times
and the Virginia Zone Team three times, serving as Head Coach
twice. He has coached at the Villanova University Summer Swim
Camp, the USA Swimming Regional Distance Camp, and he
continues to coach at the Penn State University Summer Swim Camp.
As an ASCA Fellow, he has published swimming articles in ASCA
publications and presented at the ASCA World Clinic. Coach
Faux swam at Bucknell University, where he earned a degree in
